The Pharmacy and Alchemy Museum offers visitors an insight into the past two millennia of global pharmacy, pharmacology, and alchemy, as well as their development in Slovenian territory. More than 2,000 items are displayed across ten exhibition rooms. Visitors can see old pharmacies from the 18th and 19th centuries, a pharmaceutical laboratory, an alchemical laboratory, an ethnographic collection of Slovenian folk medicine, medicine of ancient civilizations, a collection of materia medica, perfumery and cosmetics, pharmaceutical and alchemical books (15th–19th century), as well as a collection of mortars from the 12th to the 19th century, along with scales and weights.

FOR INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, SCHOOL GROUPS AND TEAM BUILDING
With the “Alchemist’s Booklet,” you’ll embark on a journey through the museum. In each exhibition room, alongside the fascinating displays, you’ll find an interactive station where you can test your alchemical skills—such as awakening a dragon, reading oracles, identifying scents, creating potion recipes, and more. After completing all the tasks, you’ll be awarded an alchemist’s certificate: the “Diploma in Alchemy and Magic.”

MUSEUM WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS
»PERFUME AND FRAGRANCE WORKSHOP«
FOR ADULTS (MIN 5 PARTICIPANTS)
The workshop will take you into the world of a thousand scents. You’ll discover a variety of local and exotic ingredients used in perfumery – from rare and precious materials like oudwood, blue lotus, and amber, to fragrant resins, barks, woods, incense, aromatic herbs, and essential oils. Using these, you’ll be able to create your own perfume oil.

FOR KINDERGARTENS AND THE FIRST TRIAD OF PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Accompanied by the witch Ofelia, we’ll embark on an adventure to discover the healing and magical properties of plants. In the museum, participants will search for 7 alchemical messages and 7 magical ingredients, which we’ll use to create a magic powder together. We'll learn how to use pharmacy mortars, cast a wish spell, and try to awaken a sleeping dragon.

During this sensory experience, you’ll discover precious exotic ingredients, aromatic woods and resins, taste our signature elixir “Dragon’s Blood,” test your own alchemical skills, and learn ancient wisdom for maintaining health and youth.

In the workshop, we will prepare our own herbal blend using pharmacy mortars and make an origami tea bag. Participants will explore plants and their healing effects through the ancient theory of the five elements.
